Fine Art and AP Art History Teacher
I teach art to grades 7-12 (ages 13-18) at Ottawa Hills Jr/Sr High School. I am passionate about empowering my students through artistic discovery. The foundation of each of my classes is based on problem-solving, interdisciplinary connections, and collaboration. Through art, I hope to inspire my students to embrace their uniqueness and grow as compassionate members of a global society.
Classes I have taught include:
Junior High: Color Theory, Drawing and Painting, Pottery
High School: Foundations of Art (9-12th), Graphic Design I and II (9-12th), Sculpture (9-12th), Ceramics (grades 10-12th), AP Art History (10-12th)
Outside teaching experiences:
Create Studio Summer 2021 and 2022: Lead and teach summer camps to elementary students at the Sylvania studio.
Bittersweet Farms Art Advocacy Program March-August 2019: Lead, guide, and teach 16-22 year-olds with varying disabilities how to plan, create, price, and sell their own artwork at summer festivals (executive function focus)
SUA Summer Camps July 2016-present: Teach week-long summer art camps to girls ages 8-12
Art for HeART February-March 2018: Facilitate, host, and teach after-school art classes to 4-16 year-old Syrian refugees and their parents
Big Laurel Camp June 2018: Lead a week-long rustic summer camp in Kermit, West Virginia for girls ages 8-12
